Magnesia Carbon Bricks

Magnesia Carbon Bricks or MagCarbon bricks (MgO-C) are made from high melting point Dead Burnt Magnesia (DBM) or electro Fused Magnesia (FM), Carbon materials (mainly crystallized graphite), antioxidant as additives, resin binders, by proportioning & pressing.

Whilst High Temperature serving ability of Magnesia (MgO) gives superior refractoriness for high temperature applications, Carbon has good thermal conductivity, low thermal expansion coefficient and elastic coefficient and can prevent high temperature spalling and slag penetration effectively. Carbon is not wetted by slag and has good resistance to wear.

All of these properties of MgO-C bricks make it ideal materials for furnace lining, having good thermal shock resistance, corrosion resistance and spalling resistance.

With good resistance to thermal shock, corrosion, erosion and oxidation, it is a kind of ideal material for the working lining of the converter, Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF) as well as slag line region of ladles (Ladle Refining Furnace -LRF)

Magnesia carbon bricks is mainly used for Converter, Electric Arc furnace, Ladle Refining Furnaces and so on. As a composite refractory, magnesia carbon brick has been used to effectively utilize the slag resistance of magnesia and high thermal conductivity and low expansibility of carbon
