CUMI was founded in 1954 as a tripartite collaboration between the Murugappa Group, The Carborundum Co., USA and the Universal Grinding Wheel Co. Ltd.,U.K. 

CUMI Super Refractories a market leader in the manufacture of specialty refractory products in India since 1965 with technical know-how from Carborundum USA. The division specializes in the manufacture of both fired and monolithics range of refractories catering to the critical and demanding high temperature applications for various industrial applications. Primary product lines in the Fired range include Silicon Carbide, Nitride Bonded Silicon Carbide, Mullite, and Zircon- Mullite, High Alumina, and Insulating fire bricks. The primary product lines in the monolithics range include the Conventional Castables, Low Cement Castables, Insulation Castables, Self-flow Castables, Gunning Materials, Ramming Masses and Laying Mortars.

INSULATION FIBER BRICKS (IFB)

We offer entire range of CUMILAG Insulation Bricks which exhibit unique combination of chemical, mechanical stability and insulating properties. They are suitable for applications at service temperatures ranging from 1250°C to 1850°C. Bubble alumina range of insulating refractories are of light weight, have good load bearing capacity, and low heat capacity. They can be directly exposed to flame, and combustion products.

SILICON CARBIDE TILES AND SHAPES

CUMIFRAC Silicon Carbide refractories are produced from silicon carbide, a raw material synthesized in a resistance-type electric furnace at temperature exceeding 2500°C, through the reaction of silica with carbon. They have a thermal conductivity ten times that of fireclay refractories, good corrosion and thermal shock resistance, and can be formed into complex shapes. They can withstand slag attack and flame erosion. This makes CUMIFRAC unusual even among advanced refractories and has given it wide uses.

Coated Abrasives

Coated Abrasives are used in light polishing applications in automobile, auto ancillaries, white goods, hand and power tools, sanitary ware, furniture, fabrication and construction industry. There are various types of grains like sintered aluminium oxide, silicon carbide, zircon, emery and flint. The grains are of varied sizes referred as grits and their sizes also vary from grit 12 to grit 2000.
